Welcome

Welcome

Welcome to the August/September edition of our newsletter. I say this often but it does bear repeating; winter really is a fabulous time on the Island. The beaches are deserted and the whales are beginning their journey back to Southern waters with their calves in tow. If the old saying is true that children keep you young, then this certainly applies to the whales that are notably more playful on their return journey south! Not a ceremony goes by at this time of year without at least one or two whales breaching in the background.  Just this last Saturday at a wedding we had five seperate pods of whales breaching in the ocean just behind the Bride and Groom.  I don't think the guests knew where to look first!

It's been a while since our last newsletter and I'm happy to say that this has been because we have been so busy. When we began Stradbroke Weddings over six years ago, there was only the odd wedding here and there, but over the years we have nurtured the growth of an industry on the Island and it's great to see so many couples and their guests enjoying this little slice of paradise.

In this edition, Stradbroke Weddings is recognised for our hard work within the Tourism Industry in the Redlands on Moreton Bay Tourism Awards, we feature two of our recent weddings in our wedding stories, our new popular new Wild Weddings elopement packages are launched and Stradbroke Weddings celebrates its first year as a carbon neutral business! Wow, we have been busy! Read on for those articles and much, much more.

Kylie & Aaron

Kylie & Aaron

When Kylie & Aaron engaged Stradbroke Weddings to look after their wedding, the brief was simple; 'contemporary and fresh with a relaxed beach feel'.

Stradbroke Weddings quickly set to work to develop their theme within the confines of their colours of green and white - the perfect accent to a wedding on the shores of the Coral Sea.

New childcare partnership makes your childminding needs a breeze!

New childcare partnership makes your childminding needs a breeze!

Over the years we've had many requests for childcare and due to the lack of babysitters on the Island, finding the right person for our client's needs hasn't always been easy.

Always looking for better ways to serve our clients, we needed a reliable solution to address this increasing need, but what to do? The situation called for some new thinking and that's what Stradbroke Weddings' Director, Jeannie Sheppard found when she met fellow Queensland Small Business Champion Winner, Tammi, from Ladybirds and Dragonflies Child Minding.

Now, we've got everyone's childcare needs covered.  Read on for more details www.stradbrokeweddings.com.au/blogs/news

Amanda & Matthew May 2008

Amanda & Matthew May 2008

One of the best things about working with our clients is seeing the seed of an idea for a couple's wedding be born, nurtured and developed over the months leading up to their big day.

Over the years Stradbroke Weddings have had many extraordinarily beautiful weddings, be they small elopements for two, or over-the-top, incredible marquee affairs on a cliff top, they are all unique and gorgeous in their own way, but one of the most beautiful we can remember is Amanda & Matthew's wedding this May. Amanda came to Stradbroke Weddings with the brief that she would like to incorporate shades of purple into the decoration of her & Matt’s wedding.

Working as a team, we assisted her to develop this idea which we wove through each aspect of their day, from the ceremony and flowers to the reception.

Want to escape the big wedding blues?

Want to escape the big wedding blues?

Wedding blues getting you down? Feeling the pressure from family and friends for a big wedding that isn't really you?

If you've ever been on the receiving end of other people's expectations, then you'll understand the pressure some couples feel when it comes to marking the occasion of their marriage. For some, a big wedding means all the fun of the fair, yet for others, it's a nightmare and the thought of running away quietly to marry, a beautiful dream.

Here at Stradbroke Weddings we recognise that everyone is an individual with needs and wishes only limited by imagination. That's why we created our Wild Weddings elopement experiences launched in February. Read on for more

Stradbroke Weddings Celebrates One Year of Carbon Neutral Operations

Stradbroke Weddings Celebrates One Year of Carbon Neutral Operations

Early last year in a world first, Stradbroke Weddings announced it was about to move to carbon neutral operations and offer our clients carbon neutral weddings.

Many people didn't understand our plan or the reasons for our actions and some even called it a "novelty". But there were those who saw that what we were about to do was take action and initiaive against one of the biggest threats facing our planet since recorded history.

For those who understand the issue, carbon trading is not a "novelty" but a very serious commitment to make a difference.
