Helping you create an edible garden

Welcome

Welcome

Thank you for setting aside the time to peruse our newsletter. Summer is well on its way and the two things I really recommend doing are monitoring your edible plants for insect attack and mulching everything with anything, it absolutely will make a difference. Feel free to call me for advice on any pest problems you may be experiencing, there will be a natural solution.

Fact Sheets

This month there are more information sheets available free of charge.

 Just email if you would like me to send you the sheets on any of the following subjects.

* No Dig Garden - Straw Bale Method
* Passionfruit
* Citrus in Pots
* Creating Low- Allergy Gardens

Two-Spotted Mite

Two-Spotted Mite

Look for these tiny pests on the underside of leaves, they are just visible to the unaided eye. Strawberries are one plant they are attacking at the moment and you'll probably first notice a dulling, mottling of the leaves with a fine grey cob webbing on the underside. Natural predators include ladybirds and lacewing larva. Eco-Oil is registered for their control along with wettable sulphur.

Home Delivery

Don't forget to take advantage of our low flat rate of $8 for the delivery of any amount of garden supplies to your doorstep in the Brisbane metro area. Forget the checkout queues and save your back, shop online for speedy dispatch of all you need to create an edible garden.

Grumichama (Tropical Cherry)

Grumichama (Tropical Cherry)

Queensland's solution for sweet tasting cherries. We have limited numbers of these superb trees ready for immediate delivery in the Brisbane area. Very hardy, virtually pest and disease free, they make a great wind break and provide a truly delicious fruit. I have only 7 of these advanced trees in 290mm Patio Tubs left, great buying at $39. They also include our trademark fertiliser tablet that lasts 12 months and diatomite as a mulch.

Tip

Plant loose leaf varieties of lettuce such as cos, oakleaf, coral or mignonette to ensure plenty of fresh leaves ready to go straight into the salad. A fortnightly application of Fish and Kelp Plus will encourage plenty of fresh new growth naturally.

Diatomite

This product is mined from ancient fresh water lakes where the fossilized skeletons of these single celled diatoms have formed in layers. Due to its high absorbtion qualities, it really is natures own water holding crystal. Diatomite establishes the perfect growing environment for the plants root system. It is the most suitable natural source of plant available Silica known. Ideal for organic growing, it's light weight, pH stable and since it doesn't break down, is reusable. Incorporate into garden soil or apply as a mulch because its great insulation qualities will really lock in the moisture. I have it available in 40 litre bags at $19.35.
