Welcome
Greetings to all our clients and friends in the world of weddings! Welcome to our June Newsletter! This month we celebrate seven years of Stradbroke Weddings' operation on North Stradbroke Island. An amazing achievement for a business that everyone said "would never work"!
I have spent the morning on the phone catching up with some of our loyal and fabulous service providers and noticed a recurring theme - everyone's life is so busy that there is no time to down tools and spend an hour or two relaxing with family and friends.
Since beginning Stradbroke Weddings I have seen firsthand how busy people’s lives have become and in the last few years, I have come to realise that life is too short to be working 24/7. It's vital to take time out to 'smell the Roses' (although working with flowers as I do, I guess I get to do that quite a bit!) but with this in mind, we are downing tools for a few days break in early July. More on this later in our newsletter..
I often ponder over the amount of hours I put in every day and what my contribution to the planet is by organising weddings. Sometimes I lament that my work doesn't involve something earth shattering like being a nuclear physicist or solving the Middle East crisis (ha ha) but it's then that I remind myself of the many hundreds of wonderful weddings myself and my team have contributed to over the last seven years. It may sound like a cliché, but being a part of a couple's marriage celebration is indeed an honour and if ever I reached the point where I could no longer appreciate this, I believe it would be time to bow out of the wedding business.
When working with my clients, I often marvel at how busy their lives are and it's immensely satisfying when they tell me that they couldn't have had their wedding without my help. How lovely to know that I have assisted so many people on their journey to marriage and while I guess it may not be earth shattering for some, for the couples marrying and their friends and family, it's one of the most significant days in their life, and spreading that kind of much-needed happiness on this planet is contribution enough for me!
In this issue, we'll read about two recent marquee weddings, look at the services of one of our fantastic photographic suppliers, Bliss Photography, and have a look at the latest trends in florals and more. Now, I have been told by Damien, my wonderful newsletter producer from Propeller Global not to write 'War and Peace', (oops, too late, Damien!), so I'd better sign off!
I hope you can take a few minutes out of your busy day and enjoy our newsletter.
Warm regards
Jeannie
Florals, blooms and scents!
The bride's bouquet has been the focus of wedding flowers for thousands of years.
The first bouquets were carried down the aisle by brides in ancient Greece who carried bouquets of herbs such as Rosemary, to ward off evil spirits. In the middle ages, scented herbs became important not just to ward off the evil spirits, but to cover the not-so-fragrant scent of the great unwashed (bride included!). Thankfully, hygiene has progressed since then(!) and flowers are now carried down the aisle solely for beauty's sake.
These days, anything goes with regard to flowers, from the very traditional teardrop bouquets of Roses and Stephanotis to more contemporary, structured styles featuring exotic tropicals like Beehive Gingers and Kangaroo Paw.

Beach marquee style
When Hannah and Adrian decided to tie the knot, they were sure of what they wanted... a simple marquee wedding on the beach at Stradbroke Island. Living in the Northern Territory at the time of their decision, their first port of call was Stradbroke Weddings.

Blissed out photography
Stradbroke Wedding is lucky enough to have a huge database of consummate wedding professionals on their exclusive database, including some wonderful photographers, and two of our favourites are Deb and Mic, the girls from Bliss Photography.
We first worked with Bliss way back in 2005 and after meeting the girls, watching them in operation and seeing their shots, quickly snaffled them for our own. Lucky Stradbroke Weddings and our clients!
Along with great personalities, excellent senses of humour and a warm, friendly manner, all essential ingredients for becoming a Stradbroke Weddings partner, the Bliss girls produced the most AMAZING photos. We just couldn't fault their work (and believe me, we're picky when it comes to our providers).
Since that time, we've worked with the girls on many occasions and as with all our regular service providers, Bliss give our clients not only the best possible service but the best prices. And now they have an offer exclusive to clients organising photography services through Stradbroke Weddings. Bliss have offered to extend their winter wedding package specials for our clients until the end of this year.
You can view Bliss’ work at www.blissphotography.com.au
These specials offer our client’s savings of up to $1200, but remember it's only until the end of the year and only for clients organising their photography through Stradbroke weddings, so call us now to find out how you can make big savings on beautiful wedding photography

Feather banner your wedding
Having arrived in April, our gorgeous white feather banners are proving very popular!
These patented banners are direct from the U.S.A. where brides have been going crazy over them. Stradbroke Weddings are the exclusive distributor of these flags in Australia and they are available for both hire and sale.
More dramatic than a Balinese flag, these banners come with telescopic poles which make them incredibly easy to transport and install and this can be done on either sand or grass. Once installed, the lightweight fabric of the flags means that the flags will flutter in even the slightest of breezes and they look great installed in a pair or in larger numbers.
For sale or hire enquiries, please call or email our office.

Full moon magic
When Helen & Stephen told us they wanted to hold a marquee reception on a headland at Point Lookout and were flexible about the date, there was no question; they must time it with the full moon!
And so began the story of how a marquee wedding was arranged on a headland overlooking a full moon rising from the ocean...
