Welcome

Welcome

Welcome to our August newsletter. With an end in sight to winter, we look towards spring and peak wedding season. Spring is traditionally a popular time for weddings and this season sees our busiest ever, with many couples choosing to take advantage of the gorgeous weather leading into the summer months. The graceful humpback whales are still visitors to our waters up until November and Point Lookout affords one of the best whale-watching vantages on the east coast of Australia, with whales being a regular background feature of our ceremonies!

In this edition, Stradbroke Weddings is proud to announce our wins in the Redlands on Morton Bay Tourism Award in both the Specialised Tourism Service category and the prestigious, Gold Award of Distinction for the Best Tourism business in the Redland Shire.

We are also pleased to announce that the new Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel Resort and Spa has opened after a much anticipated two-year development and we have many couples who have already taken advantage and booked this beautiful venue through Stradbroke Weddings. The first wedding in the new venue takes place on the 1st of September and both the Hotel and Stradbroke Weddings are looking forward to enjoying many years of team work!

As the Hotel is now operating, we have our official launch of our new Wild Weddings Elopement and Proposal Experiences planned to coincide with the official opening of the Hotel in October. Our new Wild Weddings website is near completion and will be launched with the opening. We can't wait!  In the meantime, our indvidually tailored experiences are available.

In other news, Director, Jeannie Sheppard has recently returned from Asia where she gathered a treasure trove of beautiful and unique wedding accessories and decorations. Shipments of these gorgeous products will be arriving shortly and you can read more about this in our article below.

Continuing with our popular series on choosing the perfect wedding service provider, in this edition, we focus on sourcing the perfect celebrant.  We also tell the story of clients, Michelle and Antony’s beautiful beach marquee wedding at Point Lookout so be sure to read on..

Stradbroke Weddings Scoops Tourism Awards

Stradbroke Weddings Scoops Tourism Awards

Since reopening after our annual break, Stradbroke Weddings staff have been busier than ever, but it's nice to know that all of our hard work does not go unrewarded! At a July ceremony acknowledging excellence in Tourism services, Stradbroke Weddings received two accolades.

For the third consecutive year, Stradbroke Weddings won the award for the best Specialised Tourism Services and this year, won the distinguished Gold Award for the overall Best Tourism Service in the Shire. In her acceptance speech, Jeannie thanked all her hard working staff and suppliers and noted that the during the past year of operations, the Stradbroke Weddings initiative she was most proud of was the undertaking to operate carbon neutrally and provide clients with carbon neutral weddings.

Romance by the water's edge

Romance by the water's edge

June was a popular month for weddings here on the Island and one of those weddings saw Stradbroke Wedding's clients, Michelle and Antony, married by the water's edge in a beautiful afternoon ceremony, followed by a beach marquee reception.

Michelle and Antony wanted a relaxed atmosphere for their June celebration whilst treating their guests to a party they would never forget! Stradbroke Weddings provided just that, organising most aspects of their wedding, including the marquee and all hires, music, celebrant and accommodation. Stradbroke Flowers provided all flowers including the beautiful Bridal bouquets and table centerpieces. These featured 'First Red' Roses, green and white Dendrobium Orchids and soft foliage. Stradbroke Party Hire's new mirrored table overlays were used to enhance the effect of both the flowers and candlelight .

Guests danced the night away to the sounds of one of Stradbroke Weddings exclusive DJs while the champagne flowed and the waves lapped close by the marquee's edge. “Thank you so much. This is the best wedding I’ve ever been to” was the comment most heard through the night by Stradbroke Wedding’s staff as they attended to guests’ every need.

Countdown to Carbon neutral

Countdown to Carbon neutral

As announced in our June newsletter, Stradbroke Weddings is about to go carbon neutral. The countdown has begun to our green operations with September set for our offiial launch. Stradbroke Weddings believes we are the first wedding planner in the world to operate carbon neutrally and offer our clients carbon neutral weddings.

Director, Jeannie Sheppard sees our carbon neutral operations as a natural extension of Stradbroke Weddings' commitment to 'treading softly' on the earth. Clients will be given the opportunity to purchase carbon credits to ensure that 'green' is a colour featured in their wedding plans! Keep watching our website for further news of our launch.

Choosing the perfect service provider. Part 4 Celebrants

Choosing the perfect service provider. Part 4 Celebrants

Celebrant styles are as varied as our client's personalities. Staff at Stradbroke Weddings take great pleasure in making a prefect match of celebrant to client.

When choosing a celebrant, there are many aspects to consider. Most couples choose a civil ceremony because they want a wedding that is a little more relaxed than a more formal, church affair. In a reflection of this, many couples want a celebrant who strikes the perfect balance between professionalism and informality.

For some couples, very specific requirements are requested; for instance, an older male, someone with a great sense of humour, or a celebrant who can bring a spiritual accent to the celebration. Whatever your wishes, there's a perfect celebrant out there for you.
